The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 is the gateway for candidates who want to become government teachers in Primary (Class 1-5) and Upper Primary (Class 6-8) schools in Uttar Pradesh.

Qualifying UPTET is mandatory for teaching jobs in UP government schools, aided schools and many private institutions. The exam is conducted in two papers – Paper 1 for Primary Level and Paper 2 for Junior Level.

Single Paper

• General / OBC / EWS → ₹1000
• SC / ST → ₹500
• PH Candidates → ₹300

Both Papers

• General / OBC / EWS → ₹1500
• SC / ST → ₹800

Primary Level (Paper 1 – Class 1 to 5)
10+2 with minimum 50% marks + D.El.Ed / B.El.Ed or appearing in final year.

Junior Level (Paper 2 – Class 6 to 8)
Graduation with minimum 50% marks + B.Ed or appearing in final year of B.Ed.

Age Limit: No upper age limit for UPTET.

After qualifying UPTET and getting selected through recruitment, starting salary in government schools ranges from ₹35,000 to ₹65,000 per month (Basic Pay + DA + HRA + other allowances as per 7th Pay Commission).
